For a while there it was touch and go as to whether the Greenspace would be open for the annual Easter Egg Hunt and contingency plans were beginning to be drawn up. But we needn’t have worried as it all came right in the end and the weather even played ball for what was a spectacular Easter Egg Hunt & Dig Day. The kids had clearly missed the Greenspace as much as we have as they were chomping at the bit to get in and it wasn’t long before those Easter egg baskets were full! Thankfully our cunning helpers held some eggs back and kept refreshing the supply! Huge thanks to the donations from our parent body and Tesco on Willesden Lane that kept us in supply! Refreshments kept the parents fuelled in between serious egg hunting assistance whilst some kind folk got on with some much needed pruning as we go in to spring and clearing ahead of the outdoor classroom build! And for those children who could be dragged away from the chocolate madness there were some arts and crafts to keep little hands busy. HUGE thanks to the Greenspace committee for organising and hosting the day – it’s one of the most anticipated events of the FoSS calendar and this year did not disappoint! Thanks also to the parents who came and helped with the Dig Day aspect – preparing the Greenspace to look it’s best for it’s 10th anniversary in June!
Did you know that the Greenspace is managed by the parents and entrusted to FoSS for its maintenance and evolution. We work in collaboration with the school to make it a useable space for lessons, additional needs students and appropriate events and have regular Dig Days to keep the garden looking it’s absolute best! The Greenspace Committee and parent volunteers brainstorm, design and plant / construct all of the aspects of the space! We are always grateful for new helpers for the legwork or ideas to improve the space – contact us at [email protected] if you’d like to get involved as a one off or regularly!
