Friends of Salusbury School raises a significant amount of money every year to go towards making our school the best it can be.  This is done with the help of so many parents, carers, teachers, local businesses and probably more people than we can thank and name here.  If you want to be involved in organising, deciding how the money raised is spent and participating in events you can come along to the monthly Friends meetings.

If you want to be even more involved you can also become part of the Friends committee (current members listed below).  Every year we hold our AGM in October/November and all positions are up for election. Everyone can run for a position and we really encourage new friends and faces.  You can always shadow a role for a year if you don’t want to commit straight away or can’t decide. Below are also brief descriptions of each position.  Being part of the committee is a great way to become part of the school, getting to know other parents and teachers, and also to make a real difference to your child’s school experience.

FoSS Committee roles in detail…

Chair
Main duties include chairing monthly meetings, to co-ordinate the running of Friends events, liaising closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to ensure FoSS working in harmony with the school and to welcome and involve all parents / carers.  This is the most demanding of all the roles, but also the most rewarding.

Vice-Chair
Main duties include assisting Chair in all activities and chairing meetings in Chair’s absence.  Ensuring all FoSS fundraising events and gatherings are run smoothly and are fully staffed with volunteers from the parent / carer community.

Treasurer
Main duties include balancing the FoSS books, giving regular financial updates to the FoSS committee and parent / carer community, providing a cost estimate and Profit and Loss forecast for fundraising events, counting and banking monies raised at fundraising events. 
Qualifications needed:  No need to be a qualified accountant but a good understanding of finance required.

Vice Treasurer
Main duties include assisting the Treasurer in balancing the FoSS books, giving regular financial updates to the FoSS committee and parent / carer community, providing a cost estimate and Profit and Loss forecast for fundraising events, counting and banking monies raised at fundraising events.

Secretary
Main duties include taking minutes of all monthly meetings, distribution of meeting minutes to all parents and carers at the school (registered on FoSS newsletter distribution list), and the FoSS committee (including teaching and leadership staff).  Help Chair and all committee members in the smooth running and communication of fundraising events and gatherings to the school community through communication channels such as FoSS website/social media /FoSS noticeboards/posters & flyers etc.

Events and Catering Lead
Main duties include overseeing catering logistics (drinks and food provision) at FoSS fundraising events, including menu planning, pricing, buying and managing ingredients, food prep and stock management.
Incumbent committee member:  n/a – new role for 2017/2018

Class Representative (rep) Organiser
Main duties include ensuring all classes have a class rep and keeps a record of who they are and to keep them informed of all events and requests from FoSS.  Ensures smooth communication with the school and helps secure volunteers to help organise and staff FoSS fundraising events.
Incumbent committee member: Emily Worth (Acting position held by Alison Moulding since September 2017)

Greenspace Representative
Main responsibilities include organising monthly dig days (days when parent and carer volunteers help with gardening tasks), working with the school and the gardener to agree priorities and future developments, keeping the Greenspace section of the website up to date and ensuring the lovely Greenspace garden is being used to its full potential.  The Greenspace Rep is also part of the Greenspace Committee.

Independent Auditor
Main responsibilities include scrutinising the accounts, ensure compliance to charity commission regulations, offer advice and sign off annual accounts.  This role must be a finance professional.
